Training

Back up on Coll again! This time for a very very intense training - SO MUCH INFORMATION!!!

This week was all about mentally preparing ourselves for our years overseas, being bombarded with information and also meeting our partners and country groups. Now, I'm not going to bore you with all the important stuff, just the fun things!

First of all this is my lovely partner Hannah, Hannah and I will be volunteering in the same orphanage together, in La Aldea Infantil San Miguel.

Hannah and PT's Dog!

Along with Hannah I met the 6 other girls going to Peru, they will be volunteering in various orphanages across Peru; heres us looking crazy!

¡Muy Loco!

Part of Peru's culture is the animals, including Alpacas, so we couldn't miss out on going to see Coll's Alpacas; after all its technically important training, right?

Incredibly Fluffy Alpacas!!

If feeding alpacas carrot sticks wasn't crazy enough we also went swimming in the sea.....yes the Scottish coast! Cold? DEFINITELY! Once you're pretty numb from the temperature though jumping around in the huge waves is actually pretty fun, however fighting over the 5 warm showers wasn't as fun!!

On our final night, after staying up incredibly late at the Ceilidh we hiked up the the highest point to watch the beautiful sunrise at 5pm, I'll leave you now with some stunning pictures:

The Start

So, just a brief post here about how I got into this amazing year!

It all started after a presentation at my Sixth Form showing you about what Project Trust is and how to get involved (for more information I recommend visiting their site).

First step was Selection; selection is all about learning in more detail what Project Trust does and what your options are. This week is vital, straight away you're thrown into situations most young people are not used to; travelling alone, staying with a  host family and being on a pretty remote island, Coll. It really makes you realise how different a year overseas would be, and helps you understand whether you think you're capable of it.

My Selection Group in the Community Centre

I'm not going to give away too much about Selection, afterall I know us youngsters enjoy snooping for more and more info-just wait for the surprise of it!

A week or so afterwards I was contacted saying I would be going to Peru, Honduras or Chile (Peru the most likely destination) and that I was to begin my fundraising of £5900!

On to Fundraising...
